Question on new drivers and my monitor.
After getting all the required updates (eg directx 8, SP 2, video card and monitor drivers etc) I decided to load up my favourite game -> quake 3. It's all good except for one thing. Regardless of which resolution I choose in the game the monitor refresh rate stays at 60hz. My desktop is set to 1024x768x16 @ 85hz

Except a reformat...would that fix it (by re-installing the monitor drivers or something)? If your video card or monitor have gamma adjustments, you may want to try two things: first, set everything to 1.0. That might work or it might make things worse. It depends on the assumptions the manufacturer made.
